Heres a glimpse of our data center during phase 1 before our other equipments arrived, its really so messy before.

From left tor right ( Server rack which contains 3 servers, file server, online exam server, load balancer, patch pannel, spare PC's). All of our servers run with open source software (slackware, centOS and 1 freebsd).

NegOrLUG Reborn

Its been almost 3 long years since the founder and my good friend Mr. Jun Hasebe has left to work for Japan, we had some really good times learning Linux and experimenting the possibilities that it can bring inside his computer laboratory in his home, we had a few linux enthusiasts and did seminars and Open Source exhibits. After I left for Manila and he left for Japan and our other members had their jobs and were too busy the group basically DIED.

In the later part of the story some group of wannabes started their own Linux group, they also had seminars but they also got inactive. With the hopes of giving new direction in the organization I'm reviving the old Negros Oriental Linux Users Group, luckily I have met some really great benefactors that can bring in job opportunities for Linux and Open source specialist so I guess it would be a great team.

But its still a long way to go to really make people like Linux, the first thing we should do is to make them appreciate Linux before they get to like it.

1st Inter-School Open Source Programming Competition

Hello world! Its been quite some time since I hadnt posted, Im really sorry for such delay, anyway the company Im working for right now in cooperation with Negros Oriental Linux Users Group sponsored by an international franchise name is organizing the first Inter-School OPEN SOURCE Programming Competition.

A competition open to all schools here in Negros Oriental, teams of students will compete to solve a certain problem to be given by the client, the contest will run for 1 month and every week each team will be given time to present their progress, the team with the least progress will be eliminated or given pardon to come back next week. Eliminated teams will have the chance to get back as an avenger.

The winning team will get a cash prize of 25,000 PESOS and a trophy given to the school that they represent. Participating teams will all get give aways and certificates of participation.

I will be creating another blog for the contest itself.
